This Friday I will be off to Alta in the very north of Norway! [link]
I'm going to a folk high school called Øytun folkehøgskole, to study nature photography for a year and I'm so excited!! It's a boarding school with a focus on the outdoor life so there will be a lot of hiking trips, not only in Norway but in Finland, Iceland, Greenland and Russia as well.
I'll be there from August 17 - May 12, and apart from nature photography I'll also take smaller courses in dog sledding, reindeer husbandry, Sami culture and "outdoor life on water" including everything from kayaking in the Alta fjord to ice climbing.
Since Alta is so far north the sun will never rise during a few months between November and January, but hopefully the snow will make it a bit brighter and then there is always the possibility to see northern lights (and I've read that it might be a lot of solar activity this year
If anyone is interested, this is where I'm going (unfortunately the website is in Norwegian.. but at least there are some pictures
Take care everyone, hopefully I'll have something to show you soon!!
